Review of the Slot Machine Gold Digger Megaways

The slot machine Gold Digger Megaways has more than one twist. When it was released in 2020, Gold Digger became one of iSoftBet’s most popular slot machines, surprising both the company and its creators. The Gold Digger Megaways slot game launched for us without the usual iSoftBet warnings about the inclusion of the Hold&Win branding. Oh, well, it’s right there after the loading screen. It makes sense, given the original game was focused on tapping open the correct rock in order to activate a pretty complex streak respin bonus round packed of various modifiers. In this latest installment, powered by Big Time Gaming’s Megaways engine, fans may enjoy the series alongside a brand-new playable character.

Even Gus has returned. The miner with the handlebar mustache sits on the left side of the screen and throws modifiers at the grid while commenting on the game and encouraging the player. And then there’s Boomer, his trusty dog who occasionally pitches in to help out the team. You’re probably aware that there’s no shortage of mining games, and while Gus may appear like fifty other slot miners out there, he and his canine buddy are a fun addition to the experience. In addition to the miners, there is now a bigger game grid, a Gold Bet button, a feature purchase button, and a crate of gold-bearing ore off to the side.

Gold Digger now features up to 117,649 ways to win, increased from the original 5×3 game grid with 20 paylines. The new grid has 6 reels and a top tracker reel. When using the Gold Bet, the minimum number of Megaways is 10,000, while the minimum number of potential ways is 324. The standard stake value, which may be anywhere from 20 p/c to £/€20 each spin, is increased by 50% when making a Gold Bet. This medium-volatile slot has an RTP of 95.97% in standard play, 95.98% with the Gold Bet, and 96.86% with the bonus round purchase.

There are eight standard pay symbols in this game, and players win when identical tiles appear in a winning formation, left to right, beginning with the first reel. The four low pays are the ranks of J through A, which pay between 0.5 and 0.75x the bet for six, while the high pays are the ranks of lamps, picks, gold carts, and Gus, which pay between 1.5 and 25x the bet for six. Wilds may replace any other symbol on the reels other than gold nuggets to help you win.

Slot Machine Features of Gold Digger: Megaways

When the first Gold Digger game came out, iSoftBet’s Hold&Win series was more of an idea than the mainstay it is today. Gold Link Respins was the name of the bonus round back then. Gold Hold & Win Respins has been renamed and now also has Cascading Wins, Mining Modifiers, and a bonus purchase.

Successes Snowball

Any time a symbol is part of a winning combination, it is taken from the reels and replaced with cascading symbols. This might result in more victories, and the cascading effect will end when no further winning combinations can be made.

Extracting Variables

Any of the following can happen on any base game spin at random:

When the reels are completely covered in symbols, the maximum possible number of Megaways is generated.

Gus drops TNT boxes into the air, and when he blasts them up, they all display the same sign.

Gus releases Boomer to search for further treasure, and the dog quickly returns with a gold nugget. As a result, you’ll enter the Gold Hold & Win Respins bonus round immediately.

If you’re having a losing spin, you can call on Boomer to make it a winning one, or to activate a bonus.

Respins to Hold Gold and Win

Gold Hold & Win Respins are activated when 5 or more gold nuggets are landed during the main game. Only gold nuggets and the bonus symbols can appear on the reels in this bonus game. Here, you start with 3 respin attempts, and each new symbol that lands restarts the counter. When the number of chances to win is exhausted, the whole prize is given out. The values of gold nuggets range from one to twenty times the stake or the prize amount. Mini, Major, and Mega payouts are 25, 50, and 100 times the original wager, respectively. This is how reel enhancers act:

When a Blues Gem is used, it propels its corresponding reel upwards by one position.

All landing nugget values are rounded up by one green gem.

When your number of respins reaches zero, whatever Red Gems you have will provide you an additional life.

Each time a purple gem is used, the win multiplier is raised by 1. When the bonus period concludes, the multiplier is added to the final amount won.

Boomer’s Boost is another option, wherein Boomer will add bonus nuggets or boosters to the grid at random.

Incentives to Purchase

The option to purchase the bonus is a potentially beneficial addition that was absent from the first Gold Digger. It costs 75 times the amount wagered, but ensures that at least five gold nuggets will appear.

Slot Review: Gold Digger Megaways

Those who like Gold Digger the first time around should enjoy the new version. iSoftBet has added several additional features to the original game in order to make it work on the larger Megaways grid. Gold Digger already had a lot of personality thanks to Gus, and now that he’s brought his dog Boomer into the mix, the game is even more endearing.

Not only is Boomer a pleasant companion, but his editing skills were invaluable during the exam. He prevented the loss of one bonus game by resetting the number of available lives to three by placing an additional one on the reels during the last respin. There have been some minor tweaks made to the respins bonus round, but fundamentally it is the same as before. Both the number of reels and the number of gems needed to activate their modifying effects have increased from the original game. It just takes one to know. In addition, Boomer is doing his thing inside, and there are three little jackpot nuggets. Although not a huge overhaul, the changes seem to have simplified the experience, making it at least as enjoyable as before, if not more so.

In the end, Gold Digger Megaways was an excellent adaptation. It has more appeal, more features, and a bigger bonus game than the original, not to mention an extra character. In a nutshell, iSoftBet has managed to sneak in almost everything that would entice people to return to the basement for a second helping.
